Getting Here

The Old Sacramento Waterfront is located along the east bank of the Sacramento River between the Tower Bridge and I Street Bridge, and easily accessible from Interstate 5. It is walking distance from the California State Capitol, Raley Field in West Sacramento (Home of the Triple-A River Cats), the Crocker Art Museum and the American River Parkway at Discovery Park.

Whether you are moving east and west from the Pacific Ocean to the Sierra Nevada mountains, or north and south from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest, Old Sacramento Waterfront is a convenient stop for a few hours or for an extended stay. 

Parking

Two-hour metered street parking is available throughout Old Sacramento Waterfront 7-days a week from 10 a.m.–10 p.m. If you’re visiting during the holidays, you can take advantage of free holiday parking on select days and times.

Surface lot parking is available at Front & L Street, accessible from Firehouse Alley, and two public parking garages are available:

Old Sacramento Garage, entrance on I Street between 3rd and 2nd.

  • Weekend Pre-Pay Rates – $10-$15
  • Friday from 3 p.m. to close
  • Saturday and Sunday, all-day

Tower Bridge Garage, entrance on Capitol Blvd at Neasham Circle near the Tower Bridge.

  • Saturday from 3 p.m. to close
  • Sunday from 3 p.m. to close (if Monday is a holiday)

Capital Tuk-Tuk: Sacramento Joy Ride

This 45 minute joy ride is a great way to see what the tukkin’ buzz is all about! The open air design of the vehicle allows you to feel the breeze and take in the sights and sounds of the city in an intimate and exhilarating way! You’ll feel the wind in your hair and sun on your skin as we zip through the city streets. Our Sacramento Joy Ride will bring you joy, laughter and good times that will for sure be memorable! 

 

Our tuk-tuk seats up to 6 people. Children requiring a car seat are welcome but must use car seat. We are also pet friendly!

Top Hand Ranch was founded by Rick and Henry Newborn and was established in the early 1970’s–becoming one of the first of its kind to provide quality carriage rides in the Old Sacramento of modern times; since then Rick and Dianne Newborn (Henry has since retired) have been dedicated to giving their customers the best possible experience when touring the Sacramento area. Old Sacramento Waterfront is a district that consists of a number of businesses, streets, and addresses. Feel free to use the Old Sacramento Visitors Center address as a general address. They are located at 1002 2nd St Sacramento, CA 95814.

Old Sacramento Waterfront is a very short walk from the Sacramento Valley Station and I and 5th St., serviced by Amtrak, Capitol Corridor and Regional Transit Light Rail Gold Line.

Sacramento Regional Transit bus routes 11, 30, 31, 62, 86 and 88

Stop on 3rd St. between I and L only a one block walk from Old Sacramento Waterfront. Other Downtown routes no more than a half mile walk from the historic district. More information at www.sacrt.com.

Public Boat Dock

The Old Sacramento Waterfront Public Docks are owned and operated by the City of Sacramento and provide a place for the boating public to stop for a meal or a visit to Sacramento’s historic waterfront. Conveniently located on the Old Sacramento Waterfront, the Public Docks provides easy access for temporary boaters.
