Virtual Holiday Tree Lighting + Festivities

Event

One, two, TREE!

The holidays might look different this year, but yule still love what we have in store for you! This year, experience the Thanksgiving-eve tradition of lighting the holiday tree at the Old Sacramento Waterfront in your fuzzy socks and matching pajamas with the comforts of hot cocoa and home! Streaming live on Facebook, enjoy the official kick-off to the season with the Dignity Health Holiday Tree Lighting on Wednesday, November 25 at 6 p.m. Viewable from afar from the patios of nearby restaurants at the Old Sacramento Waterfront, the Dignity Health Holiday Tree lights will sparkle every day through New Year’s Day alongside district decor and enhanced lighting powered by SMUD to inspire holiday spirit throughout the merriest season.

After the tree is lit, come back to discover new memories all season long! While the traditional large tree lighting ceremony and nightly Theatre of Lights performances are on hold for 2020, you’ll still find a “tree-mendous” holiday during your visit at the historic Old Sacramento Waterfront this year! If it’s that one-of-a-kind gift you’re after or a holiday-inspired feast, exploring – and voting for – newly decorated storefronts and finding new heights on the 65′ Waterfront Wheel, come find it at the Old Sacramento Waterfront.

We hope you will still come visit the Old Sacramento Waterfront during the holiday season to admire the tree, do some holiday shopping and continue to #SupportLocal! In adherence with state and local guidelines, plan your visit with only members of your own household.

*All visitors to the Old Sacramento Waterfront should adhere to health and safety guidelines:

  • Wear a mask in public
  • Maintain physical distancing at least 6′ apart from those not in your group
  • Stay home if sick or exhibiting fever, cough, respiratory symptoms or shortness of breath
