Stage Nine Entertainment is excited to present “Tiki Week: A Celebration of Disney Polynesian Culture” starting on Monday, June 17 and culminating with a special public event on Saturday, June 22, 2024. As part of the fun and free community event on Saturday, Stage Nine will welcome three special guests that include David “Dr. Skipper” Marley (Disney Historian, former Disneyland Jungle Cruise Skipper, and author of “The Jungle Cruise: The Crazy History of Walt’s Wildest Ride”), King Kukulele (musician, comedian and entertainer – grass skirt and all), and Disney Fine Art Artist Beau Hufford (also known for his tiki related artistry).
All Week Long, June 17-22:
· All week long, Stage Nine Entertainment will celebrate Polynesian culture with tropical/oceanic music playing plus will offer special tiki and boat-culture related merchandise ranging from t-shirts, Polynesian apparel, specialty mugs and more. It’s a perfect opportunity to get decked out and in the tiki spirit for Saturday.
Saturday, June 22:
· 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in all things tiki from Walt Disney’s enchanted Tiki Room to the iconic Trader Sam’s, the tropical paradise of the Polynesian, and the adventurous spirit of Moana. Rare artifacts from Disneyland’s Tiki Room and Polynesian tiki art will be on special display in the Stage Nine Underground along with meet & greet opportunities, book signings and story sharing with special guests; plus sketching artistry in action will be available upstairs in the Vault art gallery.
· 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. – Stage Nine retail stores are open and a cool food truck with shaved ice will be available just outside Stage Nine on K Street.
Located in a building known as “What Cheer House” at the corner of Front & K Streets (102 K Street) at the Old Sacramento Waterfront and founded by Troy Carlson, the Stage Nine retail empire started humbly enough as a small, 500-square foot gift shop in the early 90s – then known as “Old Sacramento Giftique” – that specialized in model railroad products, souvenirs, Sacramento-themed apparel, and unique gifts. Carlson opened the shop when he was a freshman in college at CSUS in 1991. Today, Stage Nine has expanded over time into an elaborate and engaging five-store footprint that takes up a combined 8,000-square foot space with the following five retail concepts: Stage Nine Entertainment Store, G. Willikers! Toy Emporium, The Vault, The Old Fashioned Candy & Confectionery Store, and California Clothiers. In addition, the newly debuted The Underground Vault event space is 2,500-square feet in size and available for rental by artists, creatives, and for meetings and celebrations.
