The Sacramento History Museum presents a series of workshops on researching our local history. Whether you want to research for a book, learn more about a specific person, or just curious about the city’s history, these sessions will give you the tools to dig into the past.

 

Sacramento Historian Maryellen Burns will show you how to use local history research to uncover stories about the people, places and events that shape our community and our lives.

 

Session 1 – The Toolkit, will be held on Saturday, March 9, at the Hastings Annex, 1002 2nd Street in Old Sacramento from 1 – 3 p.m. Maryellen will discuss:

· What are you curious about and how do you want to use the information you uncover?

·  Creating a search strategy

·  Identifying sources of information

·  Keeping track of your sources

 

Tickets are $10 per person and FREE to members of the Sacramento History Museum or any other Sacramento historical or cultural organization and limited to 30 participants.

 

Session 2 – Online Resources April 6, 1 p.m. via Zoom

Session 3 – Your Public Library, Every City Has One, May 4, 1 p.m. at the Sacramento Public Library Central Branch, Sacramento Room, 828 I Street 95814
