Sunset Sips
Back by popular demand, Sunset Sips returns every Wednesday from 4PM – 7PM until September 24th, 2025, to spice up your weeknights. Through Sunset Sips, bars and restaurants across downtown offer drinks for $5, $7, and $9.

Game Night at the Museum
Roll the dice at the California State Railroad Museum after hours at this 18+ Game Night! Bring your pals along or make new friends while playing games provided by Galaxy Game Cafe, California State Library, and Capital Pinball Parlor. Each ticket includes one drink at the bar, hosted by Acheson Wine Company.

What to Expect
See the California State Railroad Museum in a whole new light at our after-hours Game Night at the Museum.
Tabletop games will be available for check-out from Galaxy Games and the California State Library. Capital Pinball Parlor will provide pinball machines.
In addition to pinball and board games, we will be hosting a Mario Kart Tournament in our East Theater! Sign-ups will be on a first-come, first-served basis at the theater on Game Night. Semi-finalists will win free admission to our next Game Night, and the winner will be awarded two tickets to our Golden Hour Express! If you wish to participate, please bring your own controller.

Excursion Train Rides
The California State Railroad Museum and Foundation are pleased to welcome guests aboard the historic Sacramento Southern Railroad. Enjoy a 50-minute historic scenic train ride along the Sacramento River and experience railroading as it was in the early part of the last century.
Location
Tickets must be picked up from the Central Pacific Passenger Station at the corner of Front and J Streets in Old Sacramento. The ticket office opens 45 minutes before the first departure. Please bring your photo ID and your membership card if you purchased member tickets. Tickets must be picked up 15 minutes before the scheduled departure. Trains leave promptly at scheduled departure times.
Accessibility
Due to the historic nature of the coaches, all passengers must be able to climb a narrow set of stairs to board the coaches. Due to limited aisle widths, wheelchairs, mobility devices, and strollers are not permitted on the coaches. Temporary storage for devices is provided at the passenger station. Should you have any questions regarding accessibility, please call the Membership Office, Monday–Friday from 10 am – 5 pm at (916) 445-5995

Golden Hour Express
Welcome Aboard the Golden Hour Express Cocktail Train – Summer Nights in Old Sacramento!
Every Wednesday in August, experience the magic of a golden California evening aboard the Golden Hour Express Train. Depart from historic Old Sacramento for a scenic, hour-long round-trip journey along the Sacramento River.
Relax in the comfort of our first-class, air-conditioned cars or take in the sunset from an open-air gondola — the choice is yours. With sweeping riverside views, refreshing beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and a vibrant social atmosphere, it’s the perfect way to toast the evening.
Each ticket includes two drink tokens to enjoy during the ride.
Welcome aboard the Golden Hour Express — where the sun meets the river, and the night begins!
IMPORTANT: THIS EVENT IS OPEN ONLY TO THOSE 21 AND OLDER. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR ID AT THE TIME OF BOARDING.

Cobblestones and cars don’t mix! Park in the garages!
Two public parking garages offer the easiest way to park:
Old Sacramento Garage, entrance on I Street between 3rd and 2nd.
Tower Bridge Garage, entrance on Capitol Blvd at Neasham Circle near the Tower Bridge.

Suggested drop-off locations – these locations will include a short 5-minute walk to Old Sacramento
- On the east side of 4th between L Street and Capitol Mall
